I recently had to quit my job in the US and leave as my H1B extension got denied. In the meanwhile, I acquired a Canadian PR through express entry. I have over 3 years of experience in working with Big Data, specifically building ETL pipelines using Hadoop, Spark, Hive, SQL Querying etc. I am looking for referrals at Amazon, Shopify and other employers that might have jobs which fit my background. I would highly appreciate any help! Thank you.
Most Canadians on Blind are in the States. Just apply to jobs through LinkedIn or their website. There is a severe shortage of experienced engineers in Toronto. Also consider Kitchener/Waterloo.
Yes I have started doing that. Hoping to find something in the next few weeks!
Canadian here in the states. @OP, Canadian job market isn't as abundant as the US, so you really have to be aggressive. Yes, companies complain about shortage of experienced engineers, but the people that do the hiring are usually extremely stuck up a-holes. They will interview way too many, pass up on many good candidates and then continue complaining about shortage of skilled people. So if you don't want to be sitting around jobless, you really have to be aggressive.
Probably because there’s tons of people who have Canadian PR and have never even been to Canada, plenty of people to choose from and offer low wages when you don’t have to go through H1B lottery, etc.

How long can you stay jobless? Just asking...
I have saved up enough for 6 months easily. But I’d prefer finding something rather sooner.
