Hi, posting for a friend who’s working as a UX designer on a self-driving car. The company is in the midst of salary negotiations now - it’s hard to get data on what a competitive salary looks like because there’s so few designers in this space, so was just wondering if anyone has any information what this looks like for someone with a masters degree in HCI and ~2 years work experience in industry.

- Talkdesk / Other poop 💩Whatever a UX designer with 2 years experience and an HCI degree is worth. Self driving piece isn't relevant.
- New / Design dbrazil173moreYes the self driving part may not really matter...it's the underlying principles that count. Note the end users are the same...just using a different ui.
But then again recruiters may not know this and think there is some golden goose here...so I would say charge whatever a similar ux person in other fields charge as your minimum...then add some, because self driving is so flashy this days...ride the gravy train too.
If you dont have the stomach for that, go to paysa.com, look for similar self driving salaries and use that as your basis or fallback figure
