Hi, I have a New Zealander with a mechanical engineering degree and a masters in geothermal engineering (both Hons). Saw all the excitement in tech and really want to transition into software development. I have some freelancing experience developing both native iOS and Android with good reviews. What else can i do to improve my chances in getting my foot in the door in silicon valley? Right now i am planning to take my OCA and OCP exam for java to show my dedication in learning and improve this skill, any more tips? Thanks!

I think getting experience someone like that would greatly increase your odds of getting in at Google.
