Selfishness materialism
Looking at posts on blind makes me feel so bleak about the prospects of this world. No doubt you should work for your overall betterment. But the focus seems to be TC personal financial gain at the cost of everyone and everything else. In political discussions, attitude is always what's in it for me. Let everybody else go to hell. There is so much intolerance and clear racism sexism. Is this a reflection of all of society or just this snobbish high earning tech community??
BS. Most people are focused on TC because it feeds their families. Those not focused on TC - do you want your families to starve? Do you want to have fewer kids? Well, I don't. Same logic applies to wanting to pay more tax (aka being on the left). As per the above, that's asinine. Society wants you to take care of your family first and foremost. Any other prioritization is immature, stupid, evil or some combination thereof.
What's your TC? Will your family really starve if you don't keep earning more? Or if you let the disadvantaged also get better opportunities in life so they don't really _actually_ starve to death?
My TC is my business. I'll always take more TC given the opportunity. I am not going to put my spouse in a position where they want more kids, but we can't afford them. Helping the disadvantaged will happen after these needs are addressed.

Another thing: racism, sexism. I've seen that coming from the left more or less exclusively. Especially racism. Many so called minorities (I refuse to recognize some of them as such) don't even attempt to hide it, eg AOC, Omar. Black hobos are being racist to my face on a regular basis. And, since irony tends to manifest in many ways in life, the right actually get accused of racism and sexism. That's BS, kids. The left are all that, tho.

Many folks here in support of breaking up big corps, higher taxes, and other liberal philosophies. Also what’s the end result of higher TC? Stocks go from Bezos/Zuckerberg/Capitalists to middle class engineers. In the worst case they gain from low interest saving accounts or in the best case they burn the money extravagantly or send to their extended families and it gets distributed to small businesses or gig workers.
I would like to be optimistic. Blind is work related. Pay is big issue and that’s a hot topic. I don’t assume people will be same outside work related app, blind.
I think there is nothing wrong with maximizing earnings...(and not doing so doesnt necessarily help others anyway) then if you want to give back to society, you have the freedom to do so. With respect to minimizing taxes, that's also OK. It's up to our government to put a system in place that collects enough to support the infrastructure and expenses we as a society want. If that means higher taxes, so be it. If you dont like it, vote for someone elee
It’s a self selecting group, the good ones are repulsed by it so they leave. Because of anonymity, even good people will let their worst instincts run rampant. No self regulation whatsoever. Also it is a reflection of the toxic masculinity that permeates tech. I am glad you are here. More voices like yours are a good thing

Please don't judge the entire tech community based off of blind. It's a tool for negotiating job offers and finding out the things companies want to hide. Nothing more.
