S&P 500 briefly touched 3000 today for the first time in history with people simultaneously talking about a recession in 2020. What are you guys doing with your ETFs? Sell or Hold ? Just wanted to get a consensus of your thought process and why?
You can’t time the market. Stop trying.
Keep buying monthly
Time in the market beats timing the market.
And more money has been lost anticipating bear markets than actually has been lost during a bear market
If you need to ask, don't bother trying to time the market, follow standard investment rules if you need the money in the next 5 years, keep it out of the market.
You cannot time the market. Hold and keep buying more if you won’t need the money soon. I have been selling during the past year because buying another house...
Sold all my 3x ETFs. Moved into 1x. It’s been a wild ride muchachos.
What do you mean by 3x ETFs?
Derivative ETF based on 3x NAV of the tracked entity. eg TQQQ or SPXL
Sell now buy later
What is your time frame for needing the money and what would you do with the money if you sold?
Good question. Time frame for needing the money is approx after 1.5-2 years. Ill be needing it for downpayment for buying a house. Renting right now
If you’re 100% certain that you need it, and buying a house it’s not just a want and actually rather random, then I’d sell and go to cash equivalent. Not because of the market conditions right now, but because of the short term needs. Source: Myself, in the same boat. I identified this as a ant, not a need. Can rent for the next decade if I have to. Cool with that, hence not selling equity
