At FB a Design Manager isn't necessarily above a "Senior" Product Designer. Management and IC (individual contributor) are two very different tracks of skill sets with their own individual leveling. A M1 could manage a L6 who has way more experience, the roles/functions of each are just different.
What are the compensation rates then for a Design Manager then. Are they considered an L5-6 or a M1? Or am I generally mixed up about this. This questioning is stemming from how years of experience might figure into it. Maybe that doesn’t matter as much if they’re distinctly different.
