12 YOE TC: 175K NW: 400K How many problems should I be expected to “know” before I can break 300K? 500K? I am a very good engineer.
Yes. Unless you are naturally good at pattern recognition and bs'ing. And also while this is required, this alone is not enough.
With 12yoe system design is probably more important. For leetcode, don't focus on memorizing problems; focus on patterns and applying basic building blocks. Kinda like how it's pointless to memorize solutions to 2 digit multiplication tables, but knowing a few tricks and finding patterns will help a lot more.
All if them, inside and out. Know the newly added ones too.
That’s too big of an ASK. Full time job with no pay. Maybe I am just to slow to pick them up easy. Hmm.. I can learn like 6 per day looking at answers.
Me: TC 300k YOE: 9 Leetcode problems solved 0 I tend to focus on problems at work and can communicate various trade offs pretty well. Not sure I ever wrote whiteboard code that compiled, not the point. System design >> leetcode
Similar, $375k but nearly 20 YOE. Have never done a LC problem. I just reach out to people I know who can push that I get a high comp (still gotta pass the random interview process). Out of all the people I know one of those random interviews will go well enough to get me an offer and I’m set. If I really put any effort into interviewing for companies like G or FB I’d probably have $500k+ but I enjoy having a life outside of work.
What type of jobs in Apple pay that much ?
Leetcode? Do you really solve that kind of problems at work day to day? If not, why is tc tied to that?
You don’t need über LC skills or practice for a lot of high paying roles. If you have a niche of expertise (especially in a HW/SW overlapping domain) you can get great comp without it. Source- me.

bout 🌲 fiddy medium problems and 💯 hards
I agree with this. You should be able to get a close to optimal solution for most mediums and half the hards on a first attempt. For me, that was about 50 mediums and 20 hards. You'll also need to crush the system design questions so study up on that too.
