Setting a dumpster on fire.. πŸ”₯

Using a bait title..

So my manager does 1 project which is 50% of what project he dumped on me.. he dumped an entire major project on me..

Followed by expects I could take up additional projects because ?? Because?

What do I do while he decides that his one project is big and now is going for vacation for 1 month..

No support provided I know the project will fail .. while others in team handle 1 project we are forced to handle multiple..

Why?

Is your project execution as incoherent as your rant?

But considered as a good performer in team..

Wrote few things on purpose so that people don’t figure out who I am..

Some managers also try to make scapegoat.

I have had randomizing managers before where the current project on their mind is the 'emergency' which is a different emergency then the project they brought up the day before.

My suggestion: Get them to commit to a priority list with something like "due to the recent discussion we had I cannot complete all x# of tasks, help me prioritize them, and then you can offload the lower priority ones you don't want me working on".

If they only give it to you verbally then pin them down by writing them in email with an innocuous "just to make sure I have it accurately, is this the correct priority list you provided guidance on?"

Now that you have pinned your flaky manager down, take it to their skip manager and ask the skip for help in implementing your managers action list while they are oof on vacation to include offloading the projects selected lowest by your manager to someone else to make sure that all projects are distributed reasonably.

You now have a doable work schedule.

Welcome to Managing Your Manager 101.. 😁

Sir the problem is the manager was a coworker a month ago... but since our org is so fucked that they change org structures as per wish...

Since my manager was senior to me they made me report to him because of project we worked on..

As soon as I started reporting to him His tone changed and he wouldnt care..

He himself is cribbing to senior manager that he has a project and is running around that’s why he won’t help me...

But wants that I do 3 projects which are all bigger than all his projects..

You ask them what projects are you dropping to take this one on. Set it up as I can do this, but at the cost of other things.
