Gave boss 2 weeks notice and he returned the favor by cutting me loose 2 days later. Says he’ll pay out the rest of my salary for the 2 weeks I was supposed to work, but only if I sign a release/liability agreement. I only make about 1300 biweekly on my lousy startup salary, and my contract does not mention any equity. Am I getting fucked again if I sign a release?
You were planning to work for 2 more weeks, get paid $1300 for those two weeks, and walk out of the place. Instead, your boss offers to pay you $1300 to leave right away. Sounds to me that you gained about 2 weeks work. What exactly are you worried about?
You don't sound like the sharpest tool in the box...
Checked if OP worked at Box... was disappointed.
Get the money and go, does it even matter now
Edited: he’s not paying out the money automatically. I have to sign the severance agreement
No it’s not a quitting doc. It’s a severance agreement governing release of liability, nondisparagement, etc
Well if you’re not planning to sue and don’t have juicy gossip or resentment then it’s a no brainer. No point is bad mouthing your past employer unless you have a great reason... You’re thinking of a layoff where this would probably be a shitty severance package but this isn’t that.
Don’t worry. Sign and go
Your question makes me wonder why weren’t you laid off 🙂
Don’t sign anything
I wish msft would give me 1300 to leave.
If I understand this correctly - Sounds like you are just getting some vacation days, relative to your original plan?
