It's clear that the Post Office doesn't have a zero tolerance for Sexual Harassment. My homosexual supervisor touches me inappropriately and moves to a better paying position, while I have to stay in the same location, where everybody knows the situation and suppress my mental anguish. This is clearly unfair.
Did your supervisor touch your shoulder? Or go straight for the gooch? I only ask, because the “homosexual” part has no relation to sexual harassment. My immediate thought is that you would treat your supervisor differently than another coworker elbowing your shoulder for a joke. #JustBoomerThings
Yea agree. The homosexual identifier added nothing to the story, except to give me context on how OP probably feels about gay people...
Might be worse for men who are not gay to be sexually touched by another man than by a woman (since majority percentage of humans are biologically attracted to the opposite sex). I have never been sexually assaulted, so I do not know which one would be worse.
Sorry to hear about that. Have you formally reported this to anyone - it was unclear from your post. Are you in the union? If not I guess HR would be your only course. Even if everyone in your dept knows something, it doesn’t mean anyone will act on strong suspicion or an open secret.
I did report it, but it doesn't seem as though they are taking it seriously... and it was confirmed by the accompanying supervisor who witnessed it and giggled at it
I think the bigger problem is that you’re homophobic...
I'm not homophobic, I am a flamboyant heterosexual and I would have never thought this guy would do this to me, I talk about my girlfriend all the time.
Though this is only one sided, we’ll take it from your end. Rule #1 Documentation, Documentation, Documentation. Keep track of dates, times, names of people who will help prove your case.
Thank you
Did you report him? How is HR supposed to do anything when they don't know about it?
By reading minds of course!
While I don’t think the homosexual descriptor has much relevance with the story. I would be curious as to the sex of OP and the supervisor. I don’t think sexual harassment is treated the same based on the sex of the victim/sex of the harasser.
I agree... because I am a heterosexual male and he is a homosexual male, I don't think they are weighing it the same as if it was a female victim
Yup, men are strong and independent and don’t need any help. That stereotype has both pros and cons. This sadly is one of the cons.
Contact local newspaper
I'm not homophobic, I am a heterosexual male, I never thought that I would be touched on my bottom by anyone much less a supervisor... another supervisor was present and no reported it to the Post Master, until I made the complaint. I feel because I'm a guy they aren't taking it seriously. I'm not in a good place mentally from this situation, and I reported it to the union but they couldn't do anything with it, I contacted HR and they were fact finding, the other supervisor wrote a statement confirming that he did the inappropriate touching. I was thinking about speaking to my local newspaper but unsure as to what that may do.
Depending on your location, this may be considered simple assault and reportable to the local police. Also, you may look at filing with the USPS OIG, they should have one. Edit: your union should be advising you on this; if they got nothing for you, consider an MSPB or FLRA complaint for failure to represent while you're at it.
I didn't know I could file something on the union, but I will look into it
Today I learned USPS employees are on this app. Hope you can work through this problem, OP.
All companies in the world can join, though many will not have the number of employees needed to not be NEW
I can't, mentally I'm not in a good place
