My old manager at IBM treated me like crap. I tried to talk to him multiple times to address the issues, but he always felt and spoke openly that engineers were replaceable.. and 10 for a dime. I and two other engineers in my team quit one week before client's project release. Shared his crap emails with HR during exit interview. He was fired next month.

It’s always the managers fault. The common theme is people not taking ownership for their own situation.

My managers have been great. HR not so much. When I worked at UC Berkeley, our HR “manager” really didn’t like me. So, I would use a different restroom every day and report any sexist, racist, or homophobic graffiti as a hostile work environment. She would then have to submit the paperwork to have it painted ASAP. You can imagine what gets written on the walls in college bathrooms. Their paint budget must have gone down after I quit.

This was at my old company. I wanted to change team and new manager was ready to hire me, but my current manager was not letting me go. The new manager said he will hire me at any cost as he knee ny current manager was shit and will do things like this. So I just stopped working, went to the office every day, attending every meeting but did absolutely nothing, zero work. I would go to my desk and just sit, not even open my laptop. When he asked why I was not working, I would tell him coz I wanted a transfer to different team. HR knew I already had the other team’s offer, so he could not fire me. He had to agree after a week, and made himself a joke
