Sheryl Sandberg Is Said to Have Asked Facebook Staff to Research George Soros

Do stories like this affect your opinion of Facebook? I'm personally beginning to have serious reservations about using Facebook these days. I've already deleted the app from my phone and just use the web version, but now I think I want to delete my account altogether.

Does this affect your future or current employment aspirations at Facebook?

George Soros has made some extremely damaging accusations against FB. They are simply defending themself.

When a company has an attitude of 'we can get away with psychologically manipulating people into thinking/voting for something or someone' and 'we can get away with genocide in Burma because we are Facebook'.

What do you think will happen? This attitude comes from the top 20 to 30 people in the company.

Their hand in allowing genocide to happen in Burma is simply wrong and I don't see how anyone with values will work at Facebook.

If you work at FNG or a Unicorn or other top companies then your compensation is good enough that you don't need to sacrifice your values to work there and 30k a year extra isn't going to break you.

Anyway... Fake news? Let’s assume it’s not. Are you really surprised? That a software company would test theories on how people react to certain stimulation? But how is this any different than CNN or Fox News?

By values you mean your values? Because you have this idea - that was put in your head by CNN - that FB somehow conspired to get trump elected. This makes no sense at all.

I like how you conveniently ignore the Burma involvement.

I don’t care about one specific thing - look at the big picture. FB should support free speech. Now this doesn’t mean it will always be honest speech - but it’s not the point. People deserve to have access to all opinions and viewpoints and be allowed to make up their mind on their own.

Why are people given a free pass because they belong to X gender or Y racial group?

What’s wrong with competition research? Or in this case, enemy research? Soros bankrupted the Bank of England back then for his own benefits. He’s not exactly a saint.

There is nothing wrong with research. What people have a problem with is disseminating propaganda.
