Should I accept new job offer or wait till H1B lottery results?
I just received offer from Microsoft AI, from pretty good team. Pay is of course pretty much better than my current company as well as the profile. I am currently on STEM OPT. This is my first year to apply for H1B lottery. I will have 2 more chances for H1B lottery. My current firm has applied for H1B. I need suggestions on what action should I be taking since getting H1B is getting difficult day by day. Is it worth to leave my current job and accept Microsoft offer from really good team? Or should I wait for H1B lottery results? I can try to convince to wait till H1B lottery results are out. But what happens if I get picked up in lottery? Is it possible to leave my current job and transfer H1B before October? Or I must stay in current firm till October, if I get picked up? Thanks! UPDATE: So I got H1B. So is it possible to transfer H1B before October?
Accept the offer if its a good team. That is much more harder to come by.
Definitely agree with the above comments. But if you can stretch them for 1-1.5 months, of you do get picked in the lottery, Microsoft lawyers should be able to at least try to transfer it before October.
How does it work? Can you transfer before october 1st?

Explain your situation to Microsoft hr, they might wait and apply for your transfer after.

That’s true. But the recruiter said they would only ask this situation to immigration only after I accept offer. That’s pretty ambiguous statement I feel.

Try talking to MSFT. If they don’t budge, accept. Worst case scenario you don’t get the lottery in the subsequent 2 tries, msft will relocate you temporarily to another country office and try for h-1 again. Join a good team and do great work. All the best mate. May the odds be with ya!

once it's approved ask msft to transfer. if you switch before your H1 B transfer then you current employer may revoke your petition (big companies usually don't do that)
So can we switch to the next employer as soon as H1b is approved when employed with current employer and then the next employer will apply for H1b transfer? When can the next employer apply for H1b transfer? May be after October 1st? Is it fine to join next employer even before October 1st, just after H1b is approved ? Can anyone please answer ? always change company after successful transfer (lots of RFE for transfer these day) next employer can request transfer once it is approved.
Be honest with Microsoft and share your dilemma. They will find a way that will work out well for both you and them.
You can always join msft or any other company, but you can apply for h1b only once a year. Try talk to msft and explain the situation, but I'd personally pick the visa, because I've seen a lot of people including myself not getting selected in the lottery for 2+ years.
