I worked with a partner and recently got to know that one of my account managers is moving to a new role. I'm very well versed with their product and have been one of the people to beta test all the new features on the product while in my current role. I feel that this is a good opportunity for me to ask them if they are hiring for new account managers (as a replacement) and present my profile. I'm on good terms with the head of account managers too. What are some things I should keep in mind while asking? Is it a good idea, it's a saas product. Yoe: 3.5 years
Unless you have a non compete or asking that puts you at risk of losing your job, of course you should ask!
You should ask directly to understand their willingness to hire you first. Make sure they don't bi#*h about you to your existing employer. If your partner is OK, have them reach out to your manager to get approval.
I'm sure the partner company has a non-compete agreement with your company. It's standard in this day and time.
You can usually get over a non compete if you apply on their website. It sucks but it happens (I work for a 500 person Salesforce ISV and I make hiring decisions). If you want to avoid burning bridges just talk to who you know there confidentially to start. If they are serious it’s best to wait until the project is over. When you say account manager do you mean a sales role or more like a CSM?
Back home they say “Baby don’t
R u on a contract that says u can’t?
