I am an Engineering Manager working currently in Egypt. I am planning to relocate to Europe or America and join a big name. I failed in some interviews in Amazon, Google, Booking and Zelando. Recently I got an offer from Accenture Latvia as an "Associate Manager" with a very low TC. I accepted the offer as a step forward toward gaining more experience working in European culture, new teams and considering that Accenture is a big known name. Then I got another offer from a regional growing company in middle east with double the TC I offered from Accenture as "Engineering Manager" Should I compromise money and go to Accenture as a good step within my career? (even as an associate manager not a manager). Or should I accept the other offer with much better TC and wait for a future better opportunity in Europe or Canada? Your advice are very appreciated ...
Go with the better offer. There's nothing good in any of these big name companies. You'll end up in dirty politics and suffer. Everyone is trying to get out of these companies m
Don't you think that such a big company with big projects and clients will position me to potintially join a better company in Europe?
Latvia is ex-USSR. Quite poor country. If you are an Egyptian, it will be not easy, nobody speaks English or your language, all are white, etc. But closer to Europe of course. I’m expecting you will feel it’s not your place living in Latvia.
They are speaking English as I knew, Do you think that I will not loose joining a big name that potintially put me in a better position to join a better European company ?
This is a poor ex-USSR country. People in Accenture there may speak some english, but Uber drivers, cashiers in stores will not. I would recommend don’t do that. If you wanna land to EU better try Netherlands. This is a very good country with great culture, infrastructure and IT market.
Accenture means jack shit on your resume in tech and finance worlds - at least here in the netherlands. Take better TC. Getting a cut in TC to live in latvia of all places is just dumb. As for moving to western europe in the future, i don’t see how being in latvia will help with that? You will still need a visa unless you get a latvian citizenship, meaning stay there for god knows how many years
To me, all decisions are against the back drop of next best alternative and you end objective... While many in tech HATE /look down upon Accenture, it is still a familiar name vs abc middle eastern company, so Accenture name will provide you an upgrade to your resume in your future career moves to west. Having said that, you may want to use the other offer to upgrade your position/salary at Accenture.
As I read your message again, double the salary is a big difference. Being stuck in 2 choices only also sucks... Perhaps you need to upgrade your choices by seeking additional certifications /education (eg, cloud, machine learning etc. )
Take UAE to US/Canada/Europe route in your career... Latvia is a downgrade
How much did they offer you.?
