An Uber recruiter reached out and I'm considering going through the interview process. However, I just saw the news that they laid off 350 people. This is in addition to the 400+ people they've laid off in the past few months. Is it a bad idea to join Uber now? I'll especially appreciate if someone from Uber can provide their perspective. Do you like taking unecessary risk? Then come over
First get the interview done, worst case, use their offer
I am talking with them too. Would like some insights.
Yeah, same here. I was just contacted by a recruiter from Uber and then they are laying off 350 people at the same time. wtf
If their TC is a lot higher or you need the company name on your resume, then go for it. They said no more layoffs this year and if you get laid off, you will at least have the name on your resume.
Stay far away. We are not done here. Uber is very bloated. There will be more cuts in the future too.
Just had my onsite with them last week and they told me that no more layoffs coming. 6 days later...
HR doesnt run company.. they have very poor visibility
Each time has involved different departments. First round was part of marketing. Second round was eng, product and design. Last round was ATG, parts of ops, parts of marketing not affected earlier and recruiting.
I think they said it was the last round of layoff for now. So yes
Nope. More are coming.
Check if the HR is still there. They laid off people in recruiting too.
