Glad to see more sun but worried about the cost of living. People who did move from Seattle to sf, what are your suggestions?
Mine was opposite. I moved from Seattle to Sfo and back to Seattle. One major reason was schooling for kids. Mine was a single income though.
I'm from Holland and have similar weather as Seattle. Weather in Bay area is the best. Cost of living is insane, there is an Exodus of ppl leaving. Heard Seattle isn't cheap either though.
SF is better when you're younger and single. Seattle is better to raise a family.
Ding ding ding, this is the right answer.
Top reasons for seattle include - kids (house, school, etc), then much smaller commute saving 2 hours a day vs those busses, lastly the eddie bauer type skiing/mountains/clean air etc. similar to city vs suburbs choice.
May be share your compensation structure and then people can comment?
Take the job at slack ffs. This is a life changing move that will get you FU money for life.
Is it just you, or are you moving with a family? I found living in San Francisco as a single person is totally manageable on a tech salary. Owning a home or renting enough space for a family is more daunting though, but plenty of people manage. Besides that, I've been happy with having moved to Slack. Happy to answer any questions you have about it.

I moved from SF to Seattle and now am trying to move back. I haven't really noticed a huge savings in cost of living or anything because I was paid more in SF. I don't like Seattle so that's why I want to move back.
