Should I move to Apple

Should I switch to Apple with just $25k increase in base salary? Or I should decline it and try again but in different group? RSU and sign on bonus are at the min level. Experience 2.4 years

Yes, move for the experience you would gain and having that on your resume.

Have you worked at Apple?

Salesforce ohana.lol Mar 10, 2018

No, but I work with someone who has and he never said a bad thing about Apple. He did have some funny stories though.

Which team or org?

IBM TG68 OP Mar 10, 2018

I wouldn’t like to disclose that. Does that matter?

Run away if it's IS&T

Mind sharing the numbers?

IBM TG68 OP Mar 10, 2018

Only if you could advice )

I am in the same boat as well but in my case it would be 30k but i am gonna take it

25k base for 2.4 years (I support you rounding that up to 2.5) sounds like at least 16% raise (assuming 150k base which is generous for 2.5 years). That's an excellent raise. However, you didn't share TC with us... So it's pretty impossible to evaluate further

IBM TG68 OP Mar 10, 2018

Rise is about 20% but base will be less than $150k, that what my concern is about.

Yahoo Truth Mar 11, 2018

I wouldn't be worries. You can always interview and see if your market value is higher, but if you get into any of the big companies, growth is now about you performing.

TG68 can you pm me as well want to know what offer you got... my friend is applying for Apple and want to know more about total comp.. her is nontech role

I’d do it. I’m usually not too fused about names on a resume, but IBM has a particularly poor reputation. Having Apple on your resume instead of IBM this early in your career will be much more valuable than the 25k pay bump.

IBM TG68 OP Mar 10, 2018

The concern is about if I should accept this offer or decline it and try to apply to another group or different company with bigger base. What’s the min time I should stay there before moving to another company?

Salesforce Hxhv37 Mar 10, 2018

I feel like 2 years is solid. Enough time to be a full fledged contributor on your team and to have gone through a full performance review cycle. But moving on after 1+ years for a better opportunity is completely understandable.

Joining IBM as a new grad is ok, staying there for long is a poison unless you have real good explanation. Unless you have a better offer elsewhere, I'd say accept it. Are you relocating?
