Should I take offer?

Sr. Software Engineer with 8 years of professional experience, being offered 140k base and 90k stocks and 20k signon bonus by Microsoft at Sde 2. Is it worth moving, if my current base pay is 20% more than their offer? Would stocks cover? Current base pay at Epic - $170k Current location - Madison, Wisconsin Offer from Microsoft Base pay - $140k Stocks - $90k over 4 years Signon bonus - $20k for the first year Location - Redmond

If you have a 20% higher base you should tell the recruiter you want X dollars (x=current base *1.1) to at least give you a small raise. If I did my math correctly your current base is 168 so ask for at least 180 base and 50k in stock. When asked why say your budget is allocated and you can not afford losing such a high percentage on base.

Or depending on your current comp and expectations say you want 180 base and 80 stock because that is better aligned with your current compensation and expectations to move. 260 for SDE 2 at MS isnt a crazy ask.

You can't ignore the 20k signon. Please edit your original post to include Base+Bonus+Stock/years.
