Should India split into countries that speak their own unique languages? Like for eg all Hindi speaking states would be their own country and all Tamil states (really just Tamil Nadu) would be it's own country? Or maybe North India can be a separate country and South it's own? Wouldn't doing this make things better? Basically Europe 2.0.
Had it been the case it would have been better for indians in general for sure. But since it’s still there as united, the hardwork is already done. In the coming age of globalisation, it’s meaningless to disintegrate. Rather the emphasis should be on decentralisation.
Yeah man... Like Europe... But why would it be meaningless today? Why does globalisation matter?
Globalisation would anyway integrate these newly formed states if they happen to disintegrate peacefully. If the disintegration is not peaceful, then the transaction cost is the biggest deterrent.
Lol. Indian republic, warts and all is a fine achievement. Something a lot of us take for granted.
Besides being afraid of change and generally skeptical...why is this a bad idea?
Blind doesn’t really lend itself well to serious answers so I’m being brief here: Common market, imagine the trade barriers subcontinent would have. Indian constitution is fairly progressive at the same time federally India does a good job of letting states express their own ethnic/cultural/linguistic identities. Yugoslavia fell apart to barbarism over a much more coherent inter-ethnic identity. India isn’t a mere modern day creation, it is a culmination of 3500+ year interaction of two distinct population groups who left a genetic imprint from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. We’re more genetically/cultural related to one another than we’re to anyone from the outside. Yes it is a nation that is run inefficiently, but gradualism/compromise has been in India’s benefit in the long run.
Again, our situation is no different from Europe. Tell me where we would fail. You've given me Yugoslavia as an example but there are plenty of other European countries that are successful. India is already a global influencer so we won't fall into obscurity like Yugoslavia..
If that happens I will definitely get my GC the next day, as I belong to North India, lol.
You saw one division based on religion and we were pushed back decades in terms of progress.
This was due to violence and bad blood. This partition is a logical necessity. This would help Indians throughout the world. I guess we won't be "Indians" anymore...but whatever this results in.
Nahh I don't think so, the states are not self sufficient. All states don't get enough funding from taxes they collect. The army would be bigger issue. The neighbouring countries may try to merge newly formed smaller countries or overpower them. There may not be sufficient jobs. But on a lighter note, fun thought on what all can be achieved if it works, specially Gc backlog
There will be lot more economic opportunities when split. Systems could be efficiently managed. Govt will be closer to masses, thus accountability....
The state governments say Hello
This exactly why we have state governments! LOL
Lol language as a parameter for a country? What's wrong with you. No good can come out of this shit. Instead freaking embrace the diversity and elect a government that governs better. More bureaucracy, borders, redundant government resources, complicated relationships between the new blocks etc, this is what you get from your shitty idea
Diversity is commonly misused. Its not always a good thing in certain cases. I defer to Europe and the fragmentation of USSR to show you how important relatability between the government and the people and culture is.
Diversity has disadvantages but unity has far higher advantages. Wtf is wrong with you, India is not as rich as Europe that it can afford to split up and act like everything will be fine. The tax collection, military, education everything will be seriously affected for stupid obsession of getting an identity
Split US for a change , Texas annexes California. Mexico attacks Texas and the country goes to shit.
Didn’t that already happen in 1947 iirc?
Yes. Will help with GC :P On a serious note, what would that achieve?
More relatability...there can be a greater unity towards a commonly understood goal.
We just need Andhra out in that case ;).
