They should exist. It's boring as hell just working with White, Indian and Asian males. Teams should be more diverse and get a wide variety of backgrounds. We would have less bland people that way

      I thought Indians are Asians?

lmao Amazon and Chase can't come up with a real counterargument so they use their genius level mental capacity to deflect the subject

      You didn't make a argument.

Why would I argue with someone clearly inferior to me in every manner? I gain nothing from arguing with idiots

But clearly you need to tell everyone how superior you are...

Of course it should. You can’t have people that all think the same, not good for products or companies

Just because two people have the same skin colour or gender doesn't mean they think the same. Never thought I'd have to articulate something so obvious

You’re right. Similarly just because they are different races or gender orientation doesn’t mean they think differently. I’m advocating for diversity of thought

The poll wasn't specific, but diversity initiatives generally refer to those aiming to increase diversity on the dimension of race or gender.

Seeing the comments on this thread and blind in general, you can see why these initiatives are in place. You just get a cesspool of privileged racist and sexist dorks in the work place that will keep hiring only people like them

Or a bunch of people that only hire one of every race and religion regardless of qualification, stagnating hiring because they "haven't found the right persons yet" 🙄

If you want to be gender fluid, good for you. Just don't make everyone learn a new vocabulary which you've convinced yourself that if the world doesn't bend to your will and reference you to your fancy that they're being intolerant or the intent is offense.

Reasonable people first look inside to solve problems because that's where they usually exist. No one is special in this universe.

      It's 95% about intent.

Nobody would agree it's a good idea to call anyone 'douche' like that, so your strawman just broke down real fast...

Also you don't have the right to be happy. And there's no law requiring me to make you happy, nor visa-versa, for self-evident reasons. If someone makes you unhappy, and you believe it's not just yourself being too sensitive (it very well may be, try to consider that), feel free to avoid that person or have a gentle conversation with them as a reasonable person would do.

I guess you agree you should revoke your original statement because if someone, say you manager, constantly referred to you with something you find offensive and they know you find it offensive (like let's say calling you the wrong gender) then as you say "Nobody would agree its a good idea"

Also, you really need to not get your arguments from YouTube videos. Calling something a strawman just because it breaks your argument and you have no counter doesn't work.

Using a "they" pronoun isn't new vocabulary. And if you meet someone and they say "hey when you refer to me, could you use 'they' pronouns?" You have a choice. You can respect their wishes or you can be rude.

It's always your prerogative to disregard what someone wants, but it's not a nice or respectful thing to do.

It's important to define what these things mean.

If it's just the top-of-funnel, I'm all for it.

If it's about applying different bars for different people applying to the same position, that's where it gets icky.

People like people like them. So if unchecked, interviewers unconscious biases will exclude people unlike them.
