I was recruited from a top college, as part of my company's strategy to inculcate brighter minds to be leading their teams. After 2 years of "training' i was assigned a team with a manager who is scared of his upper management, taking up someone else's work with ridiculous deadlines, with a team that is not well equipped to work that efficiently. Just because he can't stand up for his team, keeps saying yes to everything and making us work for long hours himself included, sometimes past midnight for a week. We were able to deliver, and most of my older colleagues are still not so burnt out because they are satisfied with the TC they get here. Its a bank ,so technical excellence is not really sought after in my team's other recruits , and non-financial tech knowledge is not really appreciated either in my team (my company does recognize tech-knowledge though). 4 months under this manager, Should I quit:
Bad manager. He should manage team time better and know what the team can commit to. You do sprint planning?
My manager doesn't, he's too preoccupied with the work, always on a call. My module lead/mentor does have sprints though, which my manager surprisingly suggests are a waste of time.
What top college did you goto?
Without revealing too much, its one of the top 10 colleges in India, ranked as per hardest to get into.
Are you in the states?
