Should we move to a another country other than US?

Married couple. Both Indian. I’m on H1B, and spouse working on H4. We’re very concerned about the current immigration situation at US. Indians can wait 15+ years to get GC, and there’s no freedom at all. H4 is gonna be canceled as well. Plan to move to another county, but not sure where to move to...

Canada: low TC and high living cost. Worse weather

Australia: even lower TC and higher cost. Racists? Nice weather though

New Zealand: where is it?

UK: worse in any aspect

Other parts of Europe: may have better life and competitive TC but need to the local language

China: competitive TC? But no to the work culture. Also, we don’t speak Chinese, and we may not even get jobs there

Japan: even worse work culture? But nice life style. We speak some Japanese and we like Japanese culture (not the work culture)

UAE: weather is so bad

Any more suggestions?

Seems like you have a problem with every country. Just move back to India, at least you are already familiar with all the things you can complain about there.

  • Lol I know for fact Indians have sense of entitlement for some reason and your post helps confirm it..

So what’s so special about you/your skills that 🇺🇸 should actually do something for you and your spouse?

I don’t see any value you are going to contribute to the us economy except that get a gc and become a sucker like many other immigrants and most importantly talk shit about India?

I am an Indian too and waiting for gc since 2012

Bingo...all these "flawed" countries should just give these two a boot in the direction of India. And I'm Indian as well.

Honestly, this is a hypocrisy I see in most of my people. How does the immigration situation for a foreigner look like in India? And here we are, bixing about the US immigration system.

So basically you want the benefit of a quick Permanent residency combined with high tc good work culture and no cons :) I also want to get paid my TC without going to work.... I just want the paycheck to show up in my bank account every two weeks. Please suggest how to achieve that

Yes there are problems everywhere. But in your case, it looks like you are the problem. You aren't going to be happy anywhere. With this attitude you'll find problems in any solution.

I'd recommend changing the attitude and then looking back at the problem. Good luck!

Paris, Amsterdam and Berlin are up-and-coming tech hubs with lots of interesting opportunities, a large expat population and a comprehensive path to citizenship. Your spouse automatically qualifies for a work permit if you get a job. The TC is low and weather arguably worse in Amsterdam and Berlin, but barring the US - that's the best you can get.

There is a unfortunately continuous rise of far right and populism, that’s something to take into account. Being a visible minority is not easy and discrimination to get a job is well documented (non profit making annual assessment with fake profiles, similar in all points except picture and name: oussama vs Pierre for example).

That's the world we live in. I am in NYC, and even here I get hit with racism often. We cannot choose based on other people's malfeasance.

You missed a zero in your OP. I thought I remember reading here that Indians have to wait 150+ years for a green card which is just crazy...or am I imagining it?

Problem is people who haven’t worked in India for long before they moved to US have a very different opinion about the compensation and opportunities there. Like a 10yr experienced person can make almost 100k$ in TC easily. (which is huge in economic standards) Source: I worked in India for 10+ years.
    May 132
    • Amazon tahij
      OP
Are you saying that making 100k USD is easy in India? Sorry. I never worked in India. I got my first job straight out of university in US
      May 13
    • Informatica kinofist
It is. I m sure there are many opportunities which will pay that as TC including Indian startups. I didn’t even have stock options in my last job in India and my TC in India was about 75k$ in dollar terms. Amazon in India will pay the same range for eg. Source again, have so many friends who work at the bangalore office. We are getting to a point where it’s more skill based and compensation is not a concern back home. This was fuelled a lot by Indian startups(Ola, flipkart etc..) paying this for good talented developers and all the big MNC’s had to follow. If you are 10+ years of experience and rightly skilled, offer in a good company, the worst you can get is 45-50 lakhs per annum. That’s like bare minimum. Talk to your friends/network back home working for these companies and you will get an idea.
