Yes you should try. Don't be afraid to play hard with the recruiter. There's always more money you can get even if it isn't much. Also, prepare!
What if you already receive a very generous offer that beats all other offers?
Then negotiating may not make a big difference but it may still move comp a little bit. You also need to be creative here. While the company may not be willing to move on some parameters, they'll be willing to on others.

My first interview with Microsoft I negotiated and ended up getting my offer rescinded. I have a lot of connections at the company and got a new job with a different recruiter. I would evaluate how much leverage you have before you negotiate hard.
