Sick and tired of the gaming industry

Hoping to switch into tech -- preferably bigger tech company in the bay. Any advice on making this transition? Anyone else made this transition before?

Currently, a developer -- are there any necessary preparations to make before applying or should I just start applying to software related positions?

Also if you've made a similar transition -- did you think it was the right choice?

Games have to be more complex than what most web developers work on

That’s why I’m wondering what type of work is there for c++? Apps like Microsoft word? I dunno.

Researching that is pretty easy, I'll leave that to you.

FAANG has a lot of C++ work, both on the back end and in client applications (mobile, VR, console, etc)

Yes, done this, I would start to learn alter/tweak your resume to be less games specific and more tech general, and leetcode unfortunately. I have zero regrets.

Did you switch directly into twitter? What gaming company did you work for?
