I’m curious as to how often a UX director can ask for or expect to receive a sign on bonus. Better yet, who does and how do you ask for one? I’m in late stages with 3 companies (Facebook, Amazon, & Google) and I want to be ready to consider this as a potential addition to my TC. From what I have seen, engineers have been successful with sign on bonuses; I haven’t heard much about other roles. TC: 320 YOE: 6
Also TC 320 , what's your formula?
I have 200 base, 80k stocks, and 40k bonus.
Is the 80k first year vest or total over 4 yr? I've seen it calculated both ways. Thanks for your posts. Not too many UXers on blind.
Also, aligning them was not intended. They just ended up that way for some odd reason. I started on the same week for Amazon and Google. I started a week later at Facebook.
did you end up getting the sign on? which company did you eventually choose?
Please share
TC320 is pretty low for a director in UX :/

I haven't heard of bonus for UX either. Wow congrats btw. Would love to hear your interview experience at all 3. Did Google down level? Heard they have that tendency.
Google did down level but I was fortunate enough to know a high up influential person there who vouched hard for me. I have an additional 15 years of being an IC, so that helped a lot too. The trick was gravitas and being refined. Every single answer had to be crafted and thought of on the spot. That was the hard part. Answering questions properly and staying poised and confident. It seems fake, I resisted the idea for many years, but finally come to understand, you’re an actor on a stage, no matter where you are. Work, home, non FANG. You just have to come to terms with the fact that you’re in constant TED talk mode.
Does that construe much of Google UX life would you guess? Who is higher on your list? That's amazing you got into late stage with all 3. Any tips for a fellow. Uxer? 10 YOE. I wanna move into management soon. Currently an IC/Lead UX.
