I’ve done nothing that would warrant being fired. However, I am fairly opinionated which is why I think I’m being managed out. My workload has decreased to about one or two days of work per week, which is very unusual for Tesla. No one really seems to care if I get my work done. I’m often ignored by my superiors (no eye contact, strange glares, scowling, etc...). My team is very busy and understaffed and yet I’m not included in architectural meetings for our new projects. Am I being managed out?
Your first paragraph does not make it sound like you have a lot of self awareness. This is a conversation you should be having with your manager, not blind.
Thanks, I intend to setup a meeting. However the point of this post was to confirm if these are signs I’m being managed out. I can’t ask my manager “am I being managed out” because it’s illegal to do so and I won’t get the answer I’m looking for.
Smoke a lot of pot and go into the office. It will make you super paranoid. Then report back what happens. I guarantee you that whatever you’re feeling now will be massively amplified and in that you may find answers.
I keep my pot smoking to a minimum, but maybe it is the cause of the paranoia ;) doubt it.
Of course they are
Looks like it, but could be wrong. Best to have a 1:1 with your manager and share what you are working on and that you could help in some other areas that needs help. Wait for his response to see if he has something for you. If he says need time, that’s not good. Also, this is the time for your manager to come out and say any concerns. If he doesn’t raise any concerns, or doesn’t have anything new for you to do, likely he is buying time - this happens if there is a RIF coming up and you are on the list. If nothing new comes up in the discussion, you have a list prepared on where you can immediately help. See the reaction to that. I know this is stressing you! Good luck!
Thanks for the advice!
Keep an open mind, when the whole team including manager is busy people may not realize, or care for your situation. I had this issue talked to my manager, situation not only changed but I got an out of band mid year stock bonus. Till now I have no idea what I did, but I think they thought I was giving them hints I am going to leave. I wasn't.
Hmm, I am on the fence about leaving. I will express my concerns next week. Thanks!
Ask for important work, your managers reaction will answer your question.
I’ve tried a few times, I’m still waiting on an update about this and will follow up next week.
Why are you being passive and just sitting there? If you’re bored then volunteer for more projects and speak up.
I think the director wants me dedicated to my current team, because I’m normally a top performer. However, barely any work is being given to me during sprint planning which I find curious.
I still think speaking up and asking for more (in this case to the Director), is the right move
Document everything. With no other information than what you've provided, I'd say this sounds like bullying. You wouldn't happen to be over 40, would you? https://www.thebalance.com/types-of-bullying-2164322
No, but I will keep track
Nah, you’re probably being given a much needed & deserved break... Why wait to find out? Things are clearly not what you’d like them to be. Look for another job
I hope that’s the case!
