Can a manager/slack admin see direct conversation with other colleagues on Slack?
Including your messages to yourself and the slackbot
This is evil
There’s no expectation of privacy when using company hardware and services.
Not only can, but they do this regularly.
Haha not surprised
Yes but slack would notify you of this when the setting is enabled. Supposedly
It’s a legal regulation for certain markets. Most people keep it off.
Slack has a “corporate export” feature that allows admins to export private messages.
Yikes. Secure product much?
Most of these responses are inaccurate. Only workspace owners can see your DMs, through what’s called a “compliance export.” Not all workplaces have compliance exports enabled. You can see whether compliance exports have been turned on for your team at the bottom of your Team Settings page. If your workspace owner has the feature turned on, they will have access to a .zip file with your message history, both from private channels and direct messages. However if it's turned off currently and your company decides to turn it on, you will get a Slackbot notification when that change happens, and your message history prior to the feature being enabled will NOT be available to view.
