Small company requesting my current TC to craft an offer

How should I handle this? I have a couple concerns about sharing that information:
1. It is difficult to put a dollar value on all the perks I currently have.
2. I'd like the offer to reflect the market value that other large companies in the area pay, not what I currently make.

"An offer that reflects my current TC would be a waste of both our time. Alternatively, I may consider an offer that reflects the market rate for my experience and the value I'll add to your company."

You always have to be willing to walk away. Job offers. Car sales. Relationships. All of it. Take no prisoners. The only person who has your back is you.

@qikbait, 100% agreed. I learned hard lessons by not getting written offer as soon as I told my numbers after verbal offer to move forward

“The specifics of the current job and the offer being made are not comparable. Mixing in existing numbers will add to the confusion. Please can you make your best offer as a starting point”

What about saying; it’s illegal to ask that and you don’t feel comfortable answering a question that the state has had to make illegal to ask because of industry practices.

Don’t give them the number. Tell them you want an offer based on the skills you demonstrated on the interviews. If they insist, ask them to first disclose their payment distribution. Of course they won’t, and so you won’t disclose yours.

They always want to have the edge on information. Don’t give it to them.

Most of the time they use your numbers and make an offer to other candidate who’s asking 5k less. I came to know internally which happened in Cisco

Love you guys, this is really constructive! I know they are having trouble finding the right talent and that I impressed them. I won't give my numbers and hope to land a killer offer.

I love blind community. If I had known this before I should not have made mistakes especially recruiter mental games.

If you end in a situation where you have to give them the number for some reason, just give them an overinflated number that is not totally made up. Include the maximum possible bonuses for your level, health insurance, pto, every single benefit.

And tell them you are not lifting a finger for less than a 20%-30% raise
