Got snapchat offer: 160k base, 450k rsu for 4 years, vest every month, 112k refreash every year. L3 in snap.

This is snapchat spectales team in vience. Will work on automation framework design and implementation.

I am l5 IN AMAZON seattle now, have 7 year experience.

Is this offer lowballing? Plan to ask more, how much should i target?

They increase to 550k rsu and give a 50k bonus in rsu form vest after 6 months

    Snap apparently gives standard offers on a level-by-level basis. My understanding is that L3 is roughly equivalent to an advanced mid-level position...so, high end of L5 at Amazon. $272k recurring is in fact well above the top of Amazon's L5 SDE band (in fact, it's only $10-20k short of my actual target as an L6) and squarely around the upper end of E4/T4 at FB/Google, which makes it a good offer on paper. Assuming the stock doesn't continue to tank and the company continues to exist in its current form, that is.

    As for leveling: YoE is a ceiling (i.e. you won't be hired as a principal with 3 years of experience), not a floor (i.e. you're guaranteed/entitled to level X because of Y years). To be frank about it, the majority of developers I've worked over the course of my career have been (and probably always will be) mid-level in practice (i.e. can be trusted with personal autonomy, but not with leading/developing others) regardless of time in industry.

    It’s standard offer. They won’t negotiate, except maybe sign on. Did they give you a sign on component? And YOE doesn’t matter for comp.

    Knew a guy who left Amazon to join snap pre ipo as a dev, was laid off with a bunch of other engineers. As stock price and customer acquisition continue to drop, future layoffs seem inevitable

      They aren’t gonna change your level by negotiating. YOE isn’t the main factor for level. It should be easy to get to L4 in a year if you’re good. And the promo will come with a 200k+ stock award as well.

      RSUs were higher before IPO. Last year they were slightly higher but it was a backloaded vesting schedule.
