The op basically is shitting on a country of 1 billion people where each person causes less than 1/10 in CO2 emissions compared to the average American trying to make a modest living for themselves.

Meanwhile the #MAGA army alone emits more CO2 than Sweden and it's no problem cause #MAGA https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/06/190620100005.htm

But that doesn't matter amirite all you need to do to save the world is apparently "ban the rivers in Asia".

Of course it makes sense that this diatribe comes from some idiot who makes passive aggressive remarks about SF banning straws: "zomg the only thing we do to harm the environment was plastic straws while theyre dumping shit in a river!!! Hurr durr"

Start by looking at Europe. High taxes on high fuel consumption vehicles, government initiatives for bringing down cost of EVs, cultural shift to not run the AC and all lights 24/7 in all homes and offices all day, vote for a president that doesn't think global warming is a hoax, stop glorifying the military that burns 300k barrels of oil per day, stop maintaining a massive carrier fleet where each battle group wastes as much as a small city just to beat on others to export "freedom", all this would be a good start.

1 child policy? Who in their right mind would advocate for that?

Listen, the planet can easily support many many more people if we utilize technology for food and energy.

      We can do it.

Yeah - India and China need to get rid of their aircraft carriers: the US ones run on clean nuclear energy while India and China ones don’t and create a lot more pollution

Uber taxes and regulation are the only things that will work.

Gas prices need to be raised but also car companies need to have their Cafe standards raised way higher and way faster.

LOL what the shit, India doesn't even have an AC while China has a lonely small dinghy for one. Did you not catch the 300k barrels of oil a day thing?

The US is exemplary in some things like innovation and entrepreneurship but environmental contribution is definitely not one of them.

No one is fucking the planet more than United States and China.
Look at the extent of natural resources used, emissions and the extravaganza.

      "and China"
China's per capita pollution is an order of magnitude less than the USA, and that's before taking out the pollution caused by China producing stuff the Americans want. Just because the US outsourced the production doesn't absolve them of the responsibility for having directly caused the pollution.

The planet doesn’t care about per capita

Responsibility does. The planet also doesn't care about your arbitrarily drawn borders. A country of 100 people with 10 Ford F350s apiece and 30 private jets ranks last on the "country list for pollution" but absolutely first in per capita, and this group needs to cut back first.

By and large the west consists of smaller countries with outsourced production. Seems quite shameless to turn around and accuse people living in billion+ population countries of polluting too much while producing stuff for the west, and still managing a far lower per capita pollution.

If you want to bring in political divide into our planetary ecological crisis, then nothing more is deplorable IMO. You want to fight for the planet, then think global, not local. Help out globally, don’t hate on another country. Figure out a solution. While you try to one up each other on who is right, the planet will initiate an extinction event, and guess what all humans are affected regardless of race and religion

I’m thinking globally instead of locally (SF). We need to ban the Ganges and Yangtze instead of plastic straws.

What do you mean ban Ganges? How do you ban a river? Your solution is meaningless. Go back to the drawing board

Oh don’t worry your statements go above everyone’s heads except yours. Whoosh indeed. If you’re talking about banning outside entry into the river, that alone won’t solve the problem.

India is fixing its rivers. It takes time, but it’s been happening.
On a side note, since we’re on the topic of waste generation, I believe US has India beat. Moreover, US ships out its waste to Malaysia apparently but that doesn’t really help the planet does it. gle.com/amp/s/kkkk://www.latimes.com/world/asia/la-fg-malaysia-plastic-2018-story.html%3f_amp=true

You might want to lookup per capita waste generation statistics.
