About 2 years ago my wife was diagnosed with GBM4 (Glioblastoma) the company I work for currently have very good benefits, in my opinion, and its been one of the reason I've been hesitate to look elsewhere (and right now she is doing pretty well). (For example, a couple years ago I lost my brother to a different cancer and because of this, I decided to enhancement my wife and our benefits with a cancer policy that provide a lump sum payment if diagnosed which provide us lots of monetary benefit) So far I've gotten a verbal offer from Amzn and should receive the written today or Tuesday. So how good are the benefits? Once selected does your family benefits start immediately? Any other Amazonians have similar experience they can share moving from one company to Amzn and how their benefits fared when you started? Thanks everyone in advance for the advice and answers.

Amazon and benefits are opposites. If you want best benefits go to google
Iāve heard MS has better healthcare benefits than us...
We donāt pay a monthly premium and have a high deductible plan where they give you some money in an HSA to partially cover the deductible. The difference Iāve noticed compared to prior employers is a) we do a lot of bragging about how amazing the health insurance is and b) they pay the monthly premium which is something like $600 per person. Most other companies pay only a percentage of that premium like 75% to 100%. For example my last company paid 85%. So my Microsoft health benefits are worth about $1-2k more per person max per year compared to my prior employer. Itās certainly not as amazing as they make it out to be, but itās totally acceptable. Curious to know how yours works? The bigger challenge we have in the US arenāt the health benefits you have when youāre working, but rather that they cut you off when you arenāt working and retired and need the benefits the most.

how is that a benefit? Everyone can buy amazon stock
I work at amazon and have special kid with high medical needs. Premium for family including kids is about 300$ a month. My medical expenses are about 50,000$ per year. So, usually I reach maximum out of pocket which is 4500$ from your pocket for family and 3000$ for 2 people. So, if you are 2 people, you can expect about 2500$ in premium + 3000$ (deductible + co pay) = 5500$ per year in worst case. Coverage wise it is pretty much same for Microsoft and Amazon
Amazon medical benefits are terrible.
