I work as a software engineer at Adobe, but thinking about pursing the role as a Product Manager. Would appreciate any advice from someone who has taken this path.
if you have to get advice for this from an anonymous forum, it’s not for you. To make the move, you have to be pretty savvy at finding real mentors rather than internet trolls and reading between the lines.
Better chance being from Adobe than Hotwire. DM me if you interested in grad school route.
Very few software engineers make great product managers - it’s a different mindset. Just because you know software, does not necessarily mean you will make a great PdM. That said, if you like *and* understand the entire business cycle of bringing a product to market then it may be worth while seeking a PdM leader in your company and speak to them about the in’s & outs, skills, and personality required.
Thank you. Is an MBA necessary?
