Microsoft gives much more depending on level. My dad's stock awards were in the hundreds of thousands per year including cash bonuses. He was also like level 68 though.

Well, I didn't receive an offer from Lyft 6 years ago... nor I had an offer from facebook in 2004 or google in 1999

A lot to say buddy... I joined amex for less money over msft because I was promised a leadership path, that never happened.

      Lesson learned!

Don’t assume that. When I was at Microsoft and the stock rose 50% from $40 to $60 I saw it as a huge gain so I sold. I also sold at 80, 90 110, 115. I am still holding on some

Those who bought bitcoin at $10 probably sold at $20 when their money doubled.

OP how does your math work ?
    Doesn't it work out to be ( (80k / 45) * 3) * 145 = 773k ?

Unfortunately that's not how it works. Besides amex is up from 12 to 120 in the same time period so you are crushing it!

Ideally you get a no of stocks equivalent to offered grant. Doesn't matter after 4 years stocks get high or low. What is yours is yours. Your options are to keep them all keep trading at vesting periods.

I'm confused, doesn't it work this way?
      ( (80k / 45) * 3) * 145 = 773k ?

Let's say my offer letter says. 200k stocks over 4 years.
During my first month I will be granted 200 stocks (considering price of 1 stock is $1k). If after 4 years stocks prices get high and now value 2k per stock then you have 200 * $2k = $400k
