Splunk Interviews

I was recently interviewed for a role that requires 2 years of experience. However, I have a total of 9 years of relevant experience. The requirements were wide and over the course of 9 years I had touched every single item in the requirement. The interviews went well. The last update that I had was that there were couple more candidates left for the interview and they would announce their decision post that. My questions are the following 1. Is there a chance that I get hired, or, am I overqualified? 2. If an offer were to be made, would the compensation be in terms of the number of years of experience that I have? or would it be based on the required years of experience for the role?

There is a chance that you’ll be hired The compensation will depend on where they end up leveling you.

I’m actually curious why did you apply for the role if you feel like sharing OP? Seems like not a good career building opportunity for you? Or are you balancing it out with life situation?

Very simple answer to that A. Splunk has been a dream company ever since I first came across it B. While the requirement says 2 years of exp. The r&r is vast and touches everything that I have worked on so far. C. I work on Splunk every day as part of my current job and hence have knowledge on the various offerings. I personally want to be a part of this team. I dont believe that one can satisfy all of the requirements listed in 2 years of experience. However, I definitely dont want factors mentioned in the OP to be the barrier.

I'm curious though. What part of my question made it seem like it's not a good career building opportunity for me.?

Splunk’s job openings aren’t tied to specific levels, usually. It’s up to the hiring manager to make a case to increase budget for a candidate one or two levels above the open req.

Thanks for the info. :)

What’s a salary range like for each level? 10k? I heard that the average salary for a specific role is 128k. Is asking for 140k realistic or too much?

Good luck! You seem to be passionate about the tech/company. I hope you get the offer!

Did you get any update?

CIBER BCof56 OP Aug 18, 2019

No change in update. When I followed up I was told that the process is still ongoing. From what I've read, this is normal.
