Splunk v. Lyft v. Salesforce
I was able to pull off the following after negotiating: Lyft: 435k TC Splunk: 440k TC Current at Salesforce: 380k TC 10yoe. Salesforce is the devil I know and love the company. I'm leaving money on the table by staying loyal though :(. I like Splunk liquid comp, but the work and team arent as interesting as Lyft. Thoughts?

principal currently, same at splunk, l5 at lyft...lyft seems to be making the biggest dent of the three in the OSS community, which is important to me personally; hopefully I'm not mistaken with that assumption
I would personally prefer left too for similar reasons you mentioned and the upside of an ipo. Nothing against splunk know several folks who work there and they have nothing but good things to say about splunk..stock done really well too..if you don’t need to tap into the liquidity anytime soon go with lyft. Do you mind breaking down splunk offer?
lyft is not real TC as those RSUs are illiquid. 440 vs 380 is not a huge difference at this level. If u like salesforce I would stay there until you can crack 500k TC elsewhere

Hmmm...by that math lyft is at par with what I have today...I wonder if I dent my long term value by staying at salesforce too long; that would be my worry about staying

Didn't know Salesforce and Splunk pay that much. Congratulations OP. I would choose interesting job over money as the difference is not much. But yea lyft is paper money

Salary+bonus/eq Splunk: 250/200 Salesforce: 280/100 Lyft: 220/214
I’d go with the best team/challenges - so Lyft is your choice.

I would never trade a principal for e5, even sfdc title is inflated.
Even if the pay is more?
Yes. Try land a L6 at other companies. Otherwise it takes you forever to promote to L6.
When did you join salesforce and as what ? Is 380k compensation due to stock appreciation ? You should wait for 500k TC to be honest
Came in with 2yoe as junior engineer...there is some stock appreciation, but my hard earned refreshers are tiny at Salesforce, the salesforce equity is under 100k per year at current appreciated value
Considering you stayed for 8 years at Sf looks like your pay has increased well over years, which team in Sf ?
