Interviewing at Spotify currently, have no idea what's decent in the city. I know they're having trouble hiring for the role I'm interviewing, it's on the design team. Any idea what TC is like? What about work culture and other benefits? The interviews have progressed realllllyy quickly, they're flying me for the onsite to Stockholm too. Any tips for this?

PM salaries are around 75k SEK gross per month. I assume designers make a bit less.

IC ladder in EU is not like the Bay Area. With 10 YOE, 80-100k SEK would
be reasonable if you have exp from a reputable company.

too much variance, tbh. I probably got a high end offer as I was at F back then.

Ouch. Don't most ICs end up with contracting shops in Scandinavia due to TC being really bad as FTE?

The reason is largely because of the taxes and social welfare system. For example Spotify makes a contribution to your state pension that’s above your salary or they pay you during parental leave. However if you don’t have kids and aren’t planning on staying in Sweden you’ll never be able to make the compensation back.

Just wanted to butt in here and say I got a pretty great offer – not much off the mark from what the PM salary quoted was. Was difficult to say no given I liked the people I interviewed with and a huge fan of the product.

Recently got offer 57K SEK from Spotify Stockholm with 7 YEO, not that attractive from salary wise.

Yeah, that’s not much given the rents in Stockholm. And very low for an engineer with 7 YOE.

See Glassdoor. I think in Sweden... That seems reasonable?
