Currently working as Sr Project Manager in Seattle area. YOE 10 (first 5 years as function consultant in PWC and last 5 in project management) TC 150K. Being an Indian on H1B i am thinking on moving to Canada (already got the PR). Can someone help with what are average TC that i should expect in canada, Vancouver or Toronto. Also what companies should i target or shall i try to transition into another role at this stage for better TC in Canada? I do understand that overall TCs are on lower side in canada. Thanks for any inputs.
30 % less and Toronto is your best options. DM me, I can help.
Thx, DM'd you
If you find the right spots buy side or at the big 6 you should be able to push to 150-200 CAD no problem in Toronto. Maybe at the big insurance companies as well. If you have big tech experience from US you will be in demand as all these places are investing heavily in technology and want to improve their ways of doing business, at least that is the trend and what they say - YMMV depending on what orgs you talk to
Thanks for the inputs. This is useful info. Any inputs on how things are in Vancouver? Weather wise its similar to seattle, though if dont look as promising in Vancouver, i might move to Toronto area
Really don’t know much about Vancouvers market. Toronto is about double the size. The is a lot more opportunity in Toronto but not necessarily in Tech. It’s growing faster than Vancouver in tech. Salaries used to generally be higher in Toronto with lower cost of living, but a bit higher taxes. To me Vancouver barely feels like a city but I’m more used to philly nyc and Chicago.
We’re u also a cook before you became a project manager? Our current pm used to be :)
What decision did you take ?
Easily 30% less
So 100k, in CAD? Or did u mean equivalent to 100K USD?
~140 cad but taxes are different, health care, cost of living, allowed tax deductions etc so hard to be accurate but yeah... Less
