Hey guys, I'm currently interviewing for a Sr. UX Designer job in Manhattan. I want to be prepared to say what my expected salary range is but need your help. The new position will make me the lead for a new product. I'll have two junior designers under me. I am currently not based in New York so I'm not sure what the going rate is there.
Linkedin.com/salary or Paysa. Paysa might be a bit more inflated though.
I can’t give a specific number since I don’t really know myself. I can only warn you to push for a higher base if possible. They will try to tell you about their “total comp” philosophy, but considering the cost of living, what you actually worry about is the month to month. An extra $20-50k at the end of a year isn’t gonna do shit if you have high rent and other monthly expenses.
There are online calculators to compare the quality of living, income, current city and NY. Income tax in NY is high, if you are considering from Seattle to NY.

200k tc is the minimum I’d take sounds like you’d be managing people in addition to ux design so I might be inclined to ask for more and get multiple offers before accepting anything. Keep in mind nyc is expensive place to live and a pain to commute to.
NYC is probably the easiest for commuting. You’ve got at least 4 apps to get a ride, 2 where you can rent and drive yourself, or what’s obviously the easiest and cheapest: a MASSIVE public transit system. Not sure what you mean. In terms of cost of living, it is definitely high. I hear that it’s comparable to SF or Seattle for housing, but stuff like food is more expensive too.
