I cleared the interviews. Recruiter confirmed verbally, seems they will low ball. What should I expect? Worked at uw, google, Microsoft. TC 440k. YOE 16.
I heard the recruiter tell me 350k tc is the max.can they go more?
Bullshit! Thats L6 max! L7 should start from 350k
You can always ask, it would have been easier if the role was tagged as technical. And it also depends on whether the hiring manager is willing to request an exception for you or not. Low 400s is possible but would require work on the hiring team side. I’m surprised that they didn’t discuss the numbers with you before starting you on interviews.
Each team has their own budget so if the recruiter offered you X amount, negotiation outside the realm of this band will be very difficult. You should have asked comp band before interviewing so you wouldn't waste your time. Besides, why the F would you want to leave wlb MS for a sweatshop like Amazon, especially when you're earning bank like you're currently are.
So as mentioned before, the band for PM is much lower than the band for Eng so it’s very unlikely you’ll get more than 350k. If it was senior manager for eng, 500k is pretty normal since the band for L7 eng manager is 390-590 but the band for L7 PM manager is more like 285-375
Thanks everyone. This was my first interview with amazon.
Should I ask for a L8 PM position? Would I need to redo the interview?
L8 is a director role. Most likely you’ll have to re-interview.
What is range for L8 PM TC?
You can ask your senior leadership recruiter for rough numbers. As those roles manage cross functional organizations for one or multiple businesses for the company the top of the band is very high. I don’t think we have directors of product management.
