Stay at Uber or join FB?
8 YoE. L5. Comp is not a concern. Solving interesting problems at Uber, but considering an offer to work on AR/VR at Facebook. Cash is better at FB, stock upside higher at Uber. Attracted by top notch team at FB. Pulled back by tech for global presence of Uber.
AR tech is not actually that fun to work on, in my opinion, but if you’re 8 YOE in a leadership role then I’m sure it’s very gratifying
Come join Alphabet/Google.
Stay at uber , cash the stocks since they can go IPo anytime. Join FB after you cash the stocks of uber. Join uber for your favorite team later.. Just don't loose the opportunity to cash a great start up. Lots of people moved from Google for this. Just my two cents

What do generic software engineers do at Oculus? What technologies do they use and how good should one be at math?
Stay at Uber until after IPO. If by then FB still has more learnings for you than Uber, then go.
Things will change after IPO, stay to see if it's for the better. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Next one year is going to be very interesting for both the companies. I would say wait for 6 months at least before you decide.
Odd to say this, but the ethical thing to do is to stay at Uber
