Stocks are up, unemployment is low. Why aren’t companies hiring?

I’ve noticed a significant drop in recruitment past 12 months. Seems like companies are extremely dovish and guarded. Not willing to hire, either for expansion or replacement.

What do you think?

My linkedin inbox disagrees with the premise of your post. Tech hiring is strong.

Is your target industry in any way connected to the trade war (banking/steel/automobile..) ?

Technology companies? How so? I have been head hunted hard by all sorts of companies on weekly basis including all the FAANG and VCs for the first time ever.

A bit over 15 YOE, early developer at two very successful startups. One is a huge company today, I'm at the second one now and it's like a fucking rocket ship. Generalist, I know how to do a lot of things.

Thanks for all the comments. Seems like recruitment is strong especially for tech.

I don’t think all roles and expertise are getting the same treatment. In your view, what are top 3? Here’s mine:

    1. Senior SWE
    2. Junior PMs
    3. Internal TPM roles related to security
