How do you stop yourself from getting yourself comfortable ? Over the period, you get comfortable with people around - co-workers, manager, leadership. Once inside a comfort zone, it's difficult to get out, switch companies. But if you don't move, the TC remains very low. TC is not everything but it certainly hurts when people get twice the your salary at lower level with less yoe. What do you do? Point is that you get so comfortable with everything that you loose the motivation to move, get into uncertain, uncomfortable part again.

Accept that you will get comfortable with any company that is reasonably good until you find a reason good enough to make you uncomfortable. I made my commute and Amazon's below avg perks (in comparable companies at the same tier) a big enough deal that I could not take it anymore. I didn't care about if I lost on a potential promotion. I put in the effort to prepare and interview.
Google is good in every other aspects except for money, I think. Ideally nobody needs to pay for commute- Gbus Public Transport (Free VTA card) Uber Lyft pool (260$ wageworks) Free electric vehicle charging Gfleet Free food WLB (so far for me is good) Talented people Learning (I indeed find internal documentation, tools are just too good to be true) -- Money Unfortunately I didn't have strong enough competing offer when I joined and that is biting frequently now, people are earning 50% more and if I stay here, soon it would shoot more than double.
It's quite hard not to get comfortable at Google especially in the first few years.

Just come to blind often and see what others are able to get nowadays, and gauge how much you are underpaid. Do this everyday and one day you'll be triggered and realize "Shit I gotta start leetcoding and GTFO"
