Crushed the phone interview, interviewer verbally told me I’ll move on, didn’t get the second interview. The problem wasn’t very hard, and I’m a pretty social guy. Still not sure what happened

Recently went through it, it’s a pair programming style interview. The question is pretty basic and has a bunch of follow ups as you solve. As long as you can write code fast and debug, you will be fine. I heard back from them the same day and in the process of on-site in the next few weeks.

I am proceeding to onsite as well... things that may have worked during my phone screen could be ... keeping constant communication around decisions I am making... why I chose one way over other ... discussing complexities along the way ... discussing if things could be written more optimally if given time ... discuss edge cases ... discuss where code could fail... show with test cases both positive and negative... think out loud throughout

Don’t over engineer and don’t be less thoughtfull as well .. strike a balance and ensure the interviewer is with you in your line of thoughts

Less emphasis on optimization. Know about the products. Tell them your approach before coding. IMP: they care about edge cases. Keeping code clean and modular. I cleared phone interview and got on site invite 2 hours later.
