I am an immigrant transitioning to h1b,
I want to switch employer.
I got offer in a FANG, they are considering taking it back ( because of visa issues ), so now I have to be on the lookout again.

I tried Uber and Palantir onsite, failed them.
I have F and G interviews lined up ( which I am gonna fail ).
Are there any modest companies, which still belong to tier A- and pay well, but whose hiring bar is not as high as Uber / Google.

I am backend developer with 3 yoe. Bay Area.

C- is based on what? Open PTO and Seattle paid new grad >120K on just base. And I think it's really fun to work here

but Oracle give new grad 130 base plus 250k stock . It’s not oracle’s fault that some one with work experience would join any none OCI team and get paid much less than new grad ( for the next few years too since there is no pay raise )

130K 250K must be a competed offer, if you say that's standard I will go for an interview

its standard if you are from top CS school , no compete offer needed, but your yoe must be less than 2 years. If you have more than that you can’t go through campus recruiting . For none campus recruiting , if you are not oci , pay is much less than new grad

I’m not sure what OP meant by “transitioning to h1b”.. h1b transfer? or not in the US yet? It’s true at least Amazon doesn’t reject just because of visa..

I have about 20 months of opt, which means 2 h1b attempts, but since it is picked already this year, I don’t want to go through the lottery again.

Ah I see. Maybe it’s better to take A or N with OPT and ask for gc

Why would you think you will fail the F and G interviews ? Looks like you need to work on your confidence first my friend. If your profile is good enough that you are getting calls from FAANG, that means you do have the ability to crack them... Think about it

Preparation != Success in interviews all the time. You have exp too. Trust it. Give your best and put up a confident face !

Yeah 3 days is more than enough. I only spent 2 days of weekend to prepare for Uber onsite when I got it last time.

To answer OP's question: Bloomberg, Salesforce, Zillow, Redfin

All of these companies have lower hiring bars and pay $200k+ TC with 2 yoe (excluding signing bonus)

I bombed my F interview and wish I could get a G interview. Did great on my N interview and of course I got a job at Amazon.

You’re in the Bay though which is replete with options. Why not try airbnb?

N won’t interview me with 3 yoe, F rejected citing not Hiring for 1-3 yoe, G wants to interview me but this would be my second attempt ( don’t wanna risk it given the 3 attempts rule ) . A is out of question .

Have been applying to Airbnb but their process will be similar to Uber I suppose
