Hi friends, I am attending Amazon onsite interview on Palo Alto office. HR send me a document to fill. One tricky question is “what is your total expected compensation (include base, bonus, equity)?” If anyone received recent total compensation from Amazon, kindly comment your offer with breakdown along with location if possible. About me: 3 years experience in US with a master degree attending Software Dev II Engineer position in Amazon. PS: I have searched in all the previous blind comments for compensation, most were related to data science, machine learning, or L4 or higher. I am not sure what Software Dev II Engineer is mapped to. I really appreciate your suggestions. Thanks !
@anon222 - if you clear the interview 'fairly' then expect L4 mapping; if you give an 'exceptional' interview performance then you can expect L5 mapping. As for expected comp, it's 'expected' so you can go crazy but TC wise $250K sounds reasonable to me..you should be able to find enough Blind posts regarding 'L4/L5' comp examples for IC roles.
Thanks for your suggestion !!!
SDE1 - L4 SDE2 - L5
That’s a tricky question, since you are in CA, legally you are not supposed to say how much you are making. Don’t shy away from asking what you really want. You also need to be cautious. With 3 years of experience , you can’t ask for $300k TC. Be realistic
Thanks for your suggestion !!!
Really thank you guys for your valuable inputs and and suggestion !!!
List a range - as much as 10-20% is totally OK. You don't want to price yourself out or self yourself short, keep it flexible at this point in the process!
SDE2 range should be ~195-225
Thanks for your feedback friends !!!
Just tell the recruiter that you'll be fine with current market value in that city. Let them come up with a number first. Ask 30 percent more. Sign when they offer 20 percent more.
Put 350k. Base: $185k Bonus/Equity: 350-185 It's "expected compensation" Doesn't mean they are gonna give that to you.
Thanks for your suggestion !
If you put that high will amazon still interview you?
