Super sad that I turned down an offer

Had offers from MS (TC: 250k) and Uber (TC:300k). Declined MS offer because I thought it was low, but then regretted it because of the WLB and commute. Asked back for it, but it was gone.
Super sad now :( Is there anything I can do?

What about it? I accepted it, but I'm not happy. I really wanted MS.

You did not clearly state in your original post that you spurned MS for Uber. Or the reasons why. Recommend editing post and adding details. Otherwise no clue what you're looking for here. All we know is you chose Uber over MS for 50k more but an insane 1 hr commute each way. Pretty bad move IMO. You're not making a lot of sense thus far.

Honestly from the tone of the recruiter's response (to my email about asking back for the offer) I felt he didn't want to work it at all.
I don't know if he would want me to contact him again.

4 mins commute is a killer. plus MS campus is soooo beautiful. I went to uber office and really didnt like it..

Ah, well, then, maybe join Uber but keep a lookout for MS opportunities. You ne'er know when something similar or interesting pops up.

MS campus is not beautiful. It's alright though, buildings are pretty shitty but nature around is nice.

50k is not worth choosing U over M. esp if you have a family.

I assume you live in redmond. Dnt expect 1 hour commute unless you are commuting off hours. Expect more like 1:20mins. Gets worse during winter (rain + dark).

MS campus is by farrrrrrr better than uber office in seattle.

WLB is pretty good at MS in general. I used to do 8 to 3 and was a top performer. They just dont put too much work on you.

Culture is better at MS. Its humane its family its friends culture vs cut throat competitive.

MS has better value on your resume in my opinion.

MS is more respected and loved company vs uber which has pretty bad image as a company.

250 is still lots of money.

I dnt think u have a shot with current hiring team since they already hired someone else. My advice would be go ask recruiter to find other teams or contact different recruiters for different teams. Or use network.

Axed your own feet... Hopefully you'll learn and get another offer from MS.
On a side note, only the people in CS industry are so entitled that they can afford to do this.

If the recruiter isn’t helpful, contact the manager who extended the offer. Sometimes not every role is publicly posted. They may be able to refer you to a partner team as well. With a little work you will find a fit.

    • Amazon kgdjg
      OP
I actually had the manager in the email, both when I declined and then when I asked back for it. The recruiter said the team decided to move forward with other candidates.
I don't know what else to do.
      Aug 5
    • Amazon amazons
I’d start by posting your level, experience and role so other HMs who have an open position can decide if you’d be a fit. Next I’d target referrals for specific roles on other teams. I’m sure someone here would like to help.

Have you tried applying to other similar roles directly on the site?

    WTF

Why do you assume you would have been happier at MS? Change teams and/or learn better and/or work harder. I’m sorry to say this, but likely it’s not Uber, it’s you.

      OP
I haven't joined Uber yet and don't know the team to change it. I like MS because in general their WLB is better than U and for me the commute to Uber is at least 1 hour each way, while to MS is 4 minutes.

I reckon cool off periods only apply to people who fail the interview. You had an offer which you refused.

If I were you I would fire up LinkedIn and start connecting with Microsoft recruiters (especially those whose profiles indicate they are open to connections) and start explaining your situation until you find someone hungry enough to bite.
