Can I survive in SF on single income? Family of 3 (daycare will be needed for baby). Only base 120k
Thoughts and Prayers during this difficult time.
what u mean only base?
Probably means there's no bonus or rsu offered
You can survive. But depending on your spending habits it may be low.
Why is day care needed if single income?

I imagine he's Divorced and has full custody/no child support
It will be challenging tbh. Especially since daycare is prob $2500+ a month. For a normal 1BR you’d also be looking at $2500+ in the outskirts of SF or the East Bay. Combine those and it’s not much left for savings, food and other things. We’re on one paycheck, but no kids and a $200k base pay. We live comfortably, although not rolling in it by any means.
People survive i? SF making less than 100k. It's doable. You wont be living lavish obviously. You'll just be another broke fuck in the city
If this makes it any better, I survived with $99K base earlier in my career as a single income family with a kid too. Although I was living in Fremont and working in Milpitas so that’s a bit different that you. Yes it’s very very very hard but you can do it. And you constantly have to look out to improve your condition.

You’d have to budget really, really well and live in kind of a cheap/inconvenient neighborhood.
😔
At least it’s doable. I think it’d be a different problem if replies said it’d be impossible. You got this, OP!
