Anyone has experience switching from a Software Engineer to an Engineering Manager role on H1B? Any problems with the H1B approvals or companies hesitant to file for H1B when you switch jobs?
There could be an RFE but it should be fine.
Follow up question - Does this change you priority date for gc?
No
Technically you have to amend your H1b and refile your perm. You will retain your priority date when you reapply your i140. If your job description on current h1b mentions about leading ppl you don’t need to refile. Ask your attorney
Yes lot of problems. Dont do it
What kind of problems? Have you been in this situation?
Yep first hand..was promoted and then approval didnt go throw ..company had to hire a new manager so had to leave ..DONT do it
Don't play with your luck when Trump is President. keep what you have and don't risk it.
@Qwwhs I'm in the same situation now, just checking to see if you had any insight / experience as it's been a year
@Qwwhs and @vvjqw how did it go ? Any issues?
Mine was an extension with title change and no issues. Just make sure job description has technical skill requirement along with people management skills. Attorney mentioned in letter explaining how my technical skills are needed in mentoring and guiding the team. Was approved in 3 days.

Tipping culture is really getting out of control! Waiter gave me ‘a look’ because I tipped her 10% for ‘BAD service!’
Bad idea while Trump is President. (For the sake of balance Hillary is one of many Bill's hoes) [For the sake of balance Trump has the mental performance of a chimpanzee]
Why is it a bad idea? It wouldn’t risk OP’s ability to continue in the current role, would it?
I don't get it. What do you mean?
