Switching to TPM role from dev lead
hello guys, Does anyone have experience switching to Technical Program manager role from Software development background? YOE 14 years as a software deceloper and lead. i want to evaluate all the pros and cons and also see how difficult is it make this career move?

Don't do it. Especially in a matrix organization. They will want you to do both, Not easy to change jobs. You'll deal with a whole lot of losers and people wanting to justify their jobs by giving you crap for getting things done. Impediments that don't make sense. Loss of edge & programming experience. Many hours meeting with overseas teams that want you to wipe their butt too....
Don't do it
Can you explain why?
Worse pay, worse liquidity, lesser opportunities, likely to be an easier target to get laid off
